The sound of space

So I was just contemplating this as I assemble my plot for a potential film/novel series in the future.

What do you think of movies, and games using sound effects in space scenes? It is obviously physically impossible in the real world, but if one wanted to be scientifically accurate, the scene may get boring fast.

So far, I like how it has been done on the new Battlestar Galactica series, with slightly muted sound, but intense rythmic music building up the mood.
